FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who can participate in Money Smart Week South Africa? Applications are open to financial institutions, fintech companies, industry associations, NGOs, educational institutions, community organisations, government entities and other organisations committed to improving financial literacy and inclusion.
Is there a cost to participate? Participation is free. Organisations are responsible for funding and delivering their own activities, events and content. Organisations may choose to engage third-party service providers, media partners or other vendors to support their activities. Any such arrangements are made directly between the participating organisation and the vendor, with no funding or payments administered through Money Smart Week South Africa, National Treasury, the FSCA or FINASA. Activities delivered as part of the campaign must remain free to beneficiaries.
What types of activities can we submit? Organisations may participate through educational content, webinars, workshops, awareness campaigns, community outreach programmes, school initiatives, videos, guides, articles, podcasts and other financial education activities.
Can we promote our products or services? No. Money Smart Week South Africa is an educational initiative. Activities should focus on financial education, consumer awareness and financial capability rather than product promotion or sales.
Can we submit content we have already created? Yes. Existing educational content may be submitted provided it aligns with the objectives and guidelines of the campaign. All submitted content and activities are subject to review and approval by the Money Smart Week South Africa Steering Committee to ensure alignment with campaign objectives, quality standards and participant guidelines before being included in the campaign.
Can we host more than one activity? Absolutely. Organisations are welcome to submit multiple activities, events or resources as part of their participation.
How are applications reviewed? Applications are reviewed through the official Money Smart Week South Africa process and are subject to the campaign's participation requirements and approval procedures.
Does FINASA approve applications? No. Applications are managed through the official Money Smart Week South Africa application process. FINASA's role is to support participation, promote the campaign and assist member organisations where appropriate.
How can FINASA members receive support? FINASA members can request assistance with their applications, including activity planning, collaboration opportunities, understanding participation requirements and aligning submissions with campaign objectives.
Do I need to be a FINASA member to participate? No. Money Smart Week South Africa is open to all eligible organisations. However, FINASA members may access additional support and guidance throughout the application process.
When will Money Smart Week South Africa 2026 take place? Money Smart Week South Africa 2026 will take place from 24–30 August 2026.
