The Fintech Association of South Africa (FINASA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the growth and development of the fintech industry in South Africa.

FINASA was founded in 2022 by a group of fintech industry leaders who saw the need for a platform where fintech companies, entrepreneurs, investors, and other stakeholders could connect, share ideas, and collaborate on projects. Today, FINASA is a thriving community of fintech professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, all united by a common goal: to drive innovation and growth in the fintech sector.

Who We Are

Kagisho Dichambe

Interim Chairman

Kagisho Dichabe is an ingeniously disruptive Leader with core strategic focus on digital inclusion (financial, telecoms, health, educational & property) for Africa, Her People and their businesses (especially informal). His passion is achieved by empowering the unbanked and unconnected People with digital platforms that enable them to participate in the much-needed digital economy in the townships and rural areas of South Africa.

As a Co-Founder and Chairman of FINASA, he advocates for “the new way of doing things” and continuously ensure that the South African fintech ecosystem has a seat at the roundtables, especially regarding regulatory and compliance requirements. He was one of the core Design Team members, and now sit as an Advisory Committee member, for the newly formed Payment Industry Body (PIB) set up by the South African Reserve Bank and the Payment Association South Africa (PASA). He is also a co-Founder of a fintech platform, mojaPay, that focus on the unbanked and underbanked individuals and businesses.

One of the Founders of FINASA, Andres currently hold the role of Non-Executive Co-Chair and works closely with the operational team to ensure FINASA meets the expectation of its members.

Darren Franks

Interim CEO

As the Co-founder and interim CEO of FINASA (FinTech Association of South Africa), Darren is a driving force in shaping the FinTech landscape across Africa. His role at FINASA involves advocating for regulatory innovation, fostering industry collaboration, and setting benchmarks for excellence. Darren's expertise spans FinTech, Payments, Digital Banking, and RegTech, making him a sought-after thought leader. In addition to his pivotal role at FINASA, Darren is also the founder of titc.io, a Full-Service Growth Agency for FinTechs, further solidifying his commitment to strategic growth in the sector.

Danielle Lawrence

Interim COO

Danielle serves as the COO of the Fintech Association of South Africa (FINASA) and brings over a decade of experience in financial services and technology. With a comprehensive educational background in Business Management, HR Management, Labour Legislation, and Payments, she is presently concentrating on creating initiatives that promote financial literacy and inclusion throughout South Africa. Additionally, Danielle is committed to fostering the ongoing advancement of women’s empowerment within the Fintech, Payments, and Technology sectors
